As a Certified Education Planner (CEP), I've helped hundreds of students across the country navigate the college admissions process. I tour colleges extensively throughout the year to meet with college admission officers. In my role as an educational consultant, I glean information about the current, new and upcoming programs and admissions criteria. Each year, I also host local meetings that bring educational consultants and college admissions officers together.
Leadership Roles
In addition to earning the distinction of being a CEP, I was elected to the Executive Board of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) in 2014, and served as its President for two years. A non-profit organization, the IECA works tirelessly to ensure that independent educational consultants uphold the most stringent ethical and business standards. Prior to the position of President, I served as the organization's Vice-President for Education and Training.
I am a member of two additional professional associations: the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC) and the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC). For several years, I was a member of a WACAC educational committee charged with creating educational programs for high school counselors and college admissions officers.
History
As a clinical social worker with over twenty-five years of clinical experience with adolescents and their families, I bring a deep understanding of the developmental issues facing teens and their parents to my educational consulting practice. This enhances my ability to match students with colleges that best meet their needs. For eight years I volunteered in the Palisades Charter High College Counseling Center providing students with college admissions guidance. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Printmaking and Drawing from the Ohio State University Wexner College of Art. At Simmons College, I received a Masters of Art in Art Therapy. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work. I am also a graduate of the UCLA College Admissions Counseling Program.
